Cause and Effect

Cause and Effect

Within the last couple weeks, I have been told twice that I do not think before I talk. At first, I disputed that allegation but later I started considering the possibility of it being true. Do I really talk without thinking? Am I really that blunt?

I’m a reserved person.  If you spend 24 comfortable hours with me, you could probably count the number of words I mouth throughout that time frame. That last sentence is as hyperbolic as it sounds. Really though, I don’t think I talk too much. Therefore, I would love to think that whenever I realize the need to say something, I do so after a considerable measure of pondering. (Also, I love ‘loving to think’) So why would two different people accuse me of talking without thinking? I considered the possibility of that accusation being true and I have come to realize that I must have let myself go at some certain point. I was probably at a very comfortable or highly-tensioned place that I must have forgot to reason before speaking.

Cause and Effect. A couple misguided steps and a group of people already tagged me as an unruly speaker. Maybe that’s the thing with this life - we reap what we sow. A couple years ago, my mom told me that although God forgives us of our sins, he gives us a knock on the head (punishment) for each and every sin to reprimand or chastise us. Newton’s third law of motion states that “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. Every action has a consequence. It is a pity that we may not be entirely able to control every single action we take. It is also a pity that we would have to bear the consequences nevertheless. We didn't make the rules - there goes another pity.

One way or the other, we pay for our sins and get paid for our good deeds.
