the proof of the pudding is in the eating
I find it funny anytime I hear the phrase “the proof is in the pudding.” - not because the phrase itself is funny but because that’s not the accurate or original way to say it.
The correct way would be “the proof of the pudding is in the eating.”
Accuracy asides, what this phrase really means is that you would never know until you have tried. You can’t tell a story if you haven’t lived or imagined it. You wouldn’t be if you weren’t.
Essentially, it reminds me that there is a past to every present. A trial to every success. A process to every product.
That got me thinking about my career as a writer. Every step I have taken - from volunteering for papers, to writing business and marketing contents for companies, to editing books, and writing my own - has been a trial and error process.
I have no formal education as a writer. All I have are years of yearning to write and keep writing - but surely enough, as I have learnt, even I couldn’t have predicted that I would be able to pull off writing 35 stories in 35 days.
This is my 35th story - and even though I have a long way to go on this daily challenge - I am proud of myself for writing stories and creating videos equivalents consecutively for this long.
I didn’t know I could do it but I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating. 330 more to go.
